| VEI employs 10-15 professionals, including civil engineers, geologists, surveyors, and technical support personnel. The size of our firm allows us the flexibility to work closely with our clients and yet the capability to handle larger projects. VEI strives to provide professional services, in a timely manner, to each of our clients. Key staff include: Vernon L. Roelfs, PE, LS, President and Senior Civil/Sanitary Engineer: Vern has 33 years of experience with special training in sanitary engineering. He holds a master's degree in civil engineering (sanitary specialty) from Oregon State University. Vern oversees all of the firm's projects, in addition to contributing to VEI's water and wastewater engineering project. Coburn, PE, Senior Civil Engineer: Mark began his civil engineering career in the US Air Force after earning his degree from Michigan Technological University. He has 28 years of experience on projects ranging from runway paving to water line extensions. When he's not at the office, Mark enjoys fishing, gardening, and being a "soccer dad". markc@veiconsultants.com Scott T. Roelfs, PE, Staff Engineer: Scott holds a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and has performed a variety of civil engineering tasks over the past 5 years. The bulk of his experience involves residential development and drainage studies. Scott is licensed in California and Alaska.. He is a life-long Alaskan who enjoys all that this state has to offer. Jim Brown, PhD, CPG, Senior Geologist: Jim is a certified professional geologist with over 30 years of Alaskan experience. He received his undergraduate degrees from the University of Alaska and his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin. Jim divides his time among work at VEI, teaching at Alaska Pacific University, and participating in a senior hockey league. Robert O. Eder, PE, LS, Senior Civil Engineer: Bob has a strong background in project development, particularly roadway design. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and is a registered civil engineer in Alaska. Bob has lived and worked in Alaska since 1962 and has extensive design and management experience. In addition to his work for VEI, Bob enjoys hunting and fishing and is an avid golfer. Caleb J. Schauer, PE, Staff Engineer: Caleb has a bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho and has more than 10 years of experience. He works for VEI seasonally, on a part-time basis. Caleb enjoys hiking and is a minister in the Lutheran Church. |
